Alessandra Petersen
Alessandra Petersen is the eponymous brand of this Peruvian designer whose life journey is about the preservation of local heritage. Her work mixes two worlds: 5000 years of tradition in the Andes with the simplicity of Scandinavian design. Her vision of ethical, feminine and handcrafted knits is unique in the skillful use of camelid fibers with a mix of old and new itechniques. The feminine aesthetic of the 1920´s is one of her constant inspirations as well as her Danish heritage. She is a believer in sustainable fashion starting from regenerative agriculture. Alpacas live and breed on the Andes at 4500 mt. above the sea level and are a 100% sustainable animal. By using their wool, Alessandra supports traditional and clean farming practices, that are passed from generation to generation. Alessandra Petersen is committed to sustainable fashion and shedding a light on the detailed work that local artisans have been doing for generations; she actively creates a better working environment for the communities whose creativity inspire her brand. “Our work depends on small communities, groups of women and collectives, a huge tapestry of talent and wisdom, led by wise women who gain visibility and empowerment through their work. We are a community that grows and depend on each other to succeed.”
