TAPIZ TREE OF LIFE

$935.00

Traditional Artistic Heritage Tapiz.

This tapestry represents different Inca and colonial motifs, the central design represents the tree of life, flora and fauna of the Andes of Perú, such as the condor, vizcacha, sparrow, eagle, and hummingbird.

Thanks to his research in textiles around Cusco, Timoteo Ccarita could recover the art of tapestry previously used for the garments of the noble Incas.

Tapestries are a perfect blend of the cross-cultural elements of the 16th– and 17th-century era of global trade with Inca techniques and design motifs.

The threads are made with natural wool which is sourced locally. The alpacas are grown by the same community. The dyes are also natural and come from plants, minerals and insects from the area such as: cochineal, chillca, qolli, indigo, chapi, kinsa k'ucho, etc.
